Eyewitness Venice Guide Book January 21, 2010 Bill A. Belt (Dallas, Texas) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We just spent a week in Venice and this is the only book we use. We are not interested in hotels and restaurants as we can get more extensive information and up to date prices off the internet. When it comes to places to visit such as historical sights I don't think you can get better information that a DK Eyewitness travel guide. You can also purse at a discount at many places including Amazon. Don't pay full price at a book store.
A Handy Guide to Venice August 27, 2009 M.Z. (Miami Beach, FL) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a great handy book for those people who don't need oodles and oodles of information about Venice. It points out all the most-popular sights, plus has a really useful pull-out maps. It's really just enough information you need to explore all the best that Venice has to offer. But what it lacks in detailed information it more than makes up in its convenient size. It's very handy and fits into any small bag or ladies' purses. I usually prefer these types of books, as they are easy to travel with.
Venice To Go.... September 12, 2009 Mark Singer (Laguna Beach, CA United States) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Very good guide. Great map and pictures. Focuses on the top 10 things in each area. This is for Italy not California. When in California don't buy a guide just ask someone
Ok for Venice September 15, 2009 Rickshaw FL 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you are interested in Venice AND surrounding areas, then this is a good book as it shows different things to do besides Venice. As far as just visiting Venice itself, you can actually skip this book and do a search on the internet or even ask your hotel for maps when you get there. Venice is very small and are made up of several small islands. It's basically tons of shops, restaurants & hotels. I'd suggest taking a boat tour to the coastal beach so you can have a view of Venice from the water after you gone through Venice on land.
Rick Steves is better June 3, 2009 Ben Littauer (Bedford, MA USA) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
We used the top 10 book in Rome a couple of years ago, and were veyr pleased with it. This one is probably as good, but Rick Steves is a cut above any other guidebook we've used. The maps in this one are quite useful, though the small streets are not shown.
