| Customer Reviews: If You can Only Jave One Guidebook, This is it June 20, 2010 SD 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I found this the most useful guide in visiting Venice and its surroundings. It was full of good ideas, accurate and interesting information all well organized. Whether planning day trips, picking a restaurant, advice on how to get around, this is a really useful book. Beautifully presented with pictures, maps, etc.

They don't come any better than Eyewitness Travel Guides. We used it extensively on our recent trip to Venice and the surrounding areas. The guide provides enough detail to get one going and lavish illustrations to whet one's appetite for the real things to be seen. The book is sized right and has ample ancillary material (survival guide, street maps, vaporetto routes, even Italian phrases for English speakers) to be a useful item to carry along easily. If one can take only one resource on a trip to Venice, I'd recommend this one.
You'll want to keep this one nearby, even at home. August 23, 2010 Robert N. Jenkins (st. petersburg, fl, US) Eyewitness Travel Guides have long been considered among the best of breed: thorough, readable and beautifully illustrated. These illustrations go well beyond pictures of the famous paintings, statues and buildings you will encounter. Typical are the "look-down'' drawings of, in this case, Venice's sestiere, or main neighborhoods. They provide the visitor walking about a better idea of where he or she is in the community. These guides are like miniature coffee table books -- once you have returned home, you want to pick them up to re-live your experience.
